
Club Eagles have moved up to fourth place in the Dhiraagu Dhivehi Premier League after defeating United Victory (UV). Eagles won the match with a score of 3-1. Since Abdullah Haneef took over as coach, the team remains undefeated and has won their last two league matches. Eagles now sit in fourth place with nine points from seven matches. Victory Sports Club, previously in fourth place, has dropped to fifth position. Victory also has nine points from seven matches.
During the match played at Galolhu Stadium, Eagles dominated the attack in the first half while UV struggled to make an impact. The first attack of the match came from Eagles.
In the third minute, Ibrahim Mahdhy Hussein took a corner kick which Zain Zafar sent out of bounds. Later, Eagles captain Ibrahim Rizwan’s attack was blocked in the area by three defenders. In the 25th minute, a ball delivered into the area by Eagles’ foreign player Abdul Malik was headed by Ibrahim Muhdhy, but the goalkeeper managed to save it. Eagles extended their lead in the 37th minute when Ibrahim Labey converted a pass from Ibrahim Ma Mahdhy inside the area. Eagles’ third goal came two minutes before the end of the first half when Yoosuf Sidhaam Ali, who had been playing in defense, scored from an open position.
In the second half, Eagles had additional opportunities to score while UV also made efforts to threaten the Eagles’ goal. UV’s only goal came in the 67th minute when substitute Ishaf Mohamed Firaag converted a cross from Egyptian forward Mustafa Mahmood, who delivered the ball from outside the area. After this defeat, UV remains in seventh place with four points from seven matches.
