They provided information on creating a seller account on the Alibaba platform and ways to promote and sell products using Alibaba’s AI tools. Additionally, they explained how to promote products by uploading them to the website.
Participants of the workshop stated that this was an opportunity for Maldivian businesses to earn foreign currency. They also mentioned that platforms like Alibaba would play a crucial role in expanding businesses and delivering Maldivian products to additional markets. Furthermore, they noted that this would provide an opportunity to advertise products that are currently difficult to market in foreign countries.
The workshop provided information on facilitating financial transactions for Maldivian businesses selling products and shipping products to other countries. Bank of Maldives and Maldives Islamic Bank provided information on financial transactions, while Maldives Post shared details about shipping products to other countries. The government’s goal is to make the creative industry account for 15 percent of the national production. The government emphasizes the importance of exporting Maldivian products to foreign markets to achieve this goal.
