President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has met with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. During this meeting, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu condemned the attack on Qatar by Israel and expressed his condolences and sympathy for those martyred in the attack. The President stated that the Maldives stands with Qatar and assured full support from the Maldives for efforts to establish peace in the region. In his remarks, the President praised Qatar’s leadership for organizing the emergency Arab Islamic Summit. He also noted Qatar’s ongoing efforts to provide humanitarian aid to Palestine.

The two leaders discussed areas where the relationship between the two countries could be further strengthened. The President acknowledged and thanked Qatar for the assistance it currently provides to the Maldives in various sectors. Additionally, both leaders emphasized the importance of further strengthening ties between the two countries and maintaining unity among Muslim nations. President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu departed for Qatar last night on an official trip to participate in an emergency summit of Arab and Islamic countries. The President will deliver a statement at this summit.

The President’s participation in this summit symbolizes the Maldives’ solidarity with Qatar and the country’s efforts to protect the rights of the Palestinian people. It also reinforces the Maldives’ call for immediate international cooperation to stop Israel’s inhumane actions in Palestine. The convening of this emergency summit of Arab and Islamic countries at this crucial time provides an important opportunity for the leaders of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries to come together. This platform will allow the voice of the Muslim Ummah to be strongly and unitedly heard, paving the way for robust international measures to stop inhumane acts and establish regional peace and security.
