
Aaidh Mohamed Javiz, the young forward from Valencia, has been appointed as the captain of the national football team competing in the under-17 SAFF Championship. He was the top scorer in the under-16 category of the most recent FAM Youth League. The player, who has been performing exceptionally well at Valencia under the guidance of Ismail Asif (Kudaheena), is one of the most important players in this team. Today, he participated in the special trophy unveiling ceremony and press conference along with the under-17 team’s coach Sobah Mohamed, as part of the session for team captains and coaches of the competing teams.

In the tournament, Maldives is placed in Group B along with India, Pakistan, and Bhutan. Maldives’ first match will be against India tomorrow. After this, they will face Pakistan on the 19th of this month, and Maldives will play their final group match against Bhutan on September 22nd. The top two teams from each group with the most points will advance to the semi-finals. The tournament will run from the 15th to the 27th of this month.
