Over 900 people have been arrested in London for participating in a demonstration in support of Palestine. Palestinian Action is a movement that has been declared illegal by the United Kingdom. The UK government designated it as a banned organization this past July after some of its members entered a Royal Air Force base and damaged military aircraft. Subsequently Subsequently, they have also carried out acts of damage targeting Jewish-affiliated defense companies in the UK. Members of the movement believe that Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s government is also complicit in the war crimes being committed by Jews in Gaza.
Of the protesters near the Houses of Parliament in London, 890 people have been arrested, marking the first time such a large number of people have been arrested from a single demonstration. The majority of those arrested were elderly individuals over 60 years old. Among those detained, 857 people were held for supporting a banned organization in the UK. An additional 17 people were arrested for assaulting police officers.
Defend Our Juries, an organization that plays a leading role in organizing protests, stated that as long as Palestinian Action remains a banned organization, they will continue to gather in large groups and engage in civil disobedience activities.
