
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has called the Maldives National Team, currently participating in the “South Asian Super Cup 2025” in Sri Lanka, to congratulate and encourage them. The President called the national team’s coach, Mohamed Shiyaz (Mohan), yesterday morning to congratulate the team on their victory in yesterday’s match. He also encouraged them to work hard with determination to achieve success in the upcoming matches. Furthermore, the President urged them to work with national spirit to bring gold medals to the Maldives in football.
Mohamed Shiyaz (Mohan), the coach of the Maldives National Team, said that the President’s call to congratulate the team was an additional joy and encouragement for the team. He also stated that as per the President’s request, they will put in extra effort in the upcoming match to bring a good name to Maldivian football and for the people, with the team’s hope being to win the trophy. The government has been working to revive the previous football enthusiasm in the Maldives, and to develop and rejuvenate football. In addition, the government has been establishing various facilities to develop sports in Male’ and the atolls.
In the South Asian Super Cup 2025, the Maldives won their first match with a score of 3-0. With a three-goal advantage, the Maldives will enter the second leg of the Super Cup on Tuesday.
