President Muizzu’s government has arranged for the Palestinian Under-17 national football team to hold a training camp in the Maldives. The Minister of Sports, Rafiu, has met with senior officials of the Football Association of Maldives (FAM) to discuss this matter. During this meeting, it was decided to facilitate the Palestinian national team, which will be competing in the AFC U-17 Asian Cup Qualifiers, to camp in the Maldives. The Minister also consulted with FAM President Ahmed Tariq and FAM Secretary General Zareer regarding the arrangements for the Palestinian team.
The Ministry of Sports states that this is an important decision made to further strengthen the relationship between Palestine and the Maldives and to assist Palestine in sporting matters. The Palestinian Under-17 national team decided to camp in the Maldives due to the lack of a suitable environment to play football because of the ongoing war. The Palestine Football Federation has requested to hold their camp in the Maldives from November 8 to 19. While camping in the Maldives, it has been decided that the Palestinian team will play two friendly matches with the Maldivian Under-17 team.
This Palestinian team is preparing to compete in the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers. The Maldives will also be competing in these qualifiers.
