Mourinho Dismissed as Fenerbahçe Coach

José Mourinho has been dismissed from his position as coach of Turkey’s Fenerbahçe.

The 62-year-old Mourinho was removed from the position following Fenerbahçe’s loss to Portugal’s Benfica in the UEFA Champions League play-off, which resulted in the club losing its chance to compete in the Champions League.

In a statement released shortly after the defeat against Benfica, Fenerbahçe announced that they had terminated their agreement with Mourinho.

Throughout his coaching career, Mourinho has coached 10 famous European clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur from England, as well as Inter Milan and Porto. He coached Chelsea twice and brought numerous successes to the club.

Although Mourinho didn’t achieve many significant successes for Fenerbahçe during his two-year tenure, matches against their biggest rival Galatasaray always remained intense.

While Fenerbahçe has terminated their agreement with Mourinho, reports suggest that the club will have to pay him 9 million euros in compensation.

Fenerbahçe hasn’t won a major tournament in the past 11 years, and the main goal of bringing Mourinho to the club was to win a tournament.
