President Inaugurates Handball Court in Nolhivaranfaru

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has inaugurated the handball court in Nolhivaranfaru, Haa Dhaalu Atoll. The President opened the Nolhivaranfaru handball court during his ongoing tour of Haa Dhaalu Atoll. The ceremony was attended by Sports Minister Abdullah Rafiu, some senior government officials, and members of the island council. This court is a project carried out by the government in collaboration with a private company. With the completion of this project, which took about a year, Nolhivaranfaru will see significant progress in the sports sector.

Speaking to PSM News about this new development in Nolhivaranfaru’s sports scene, the island council president Ali Siraj said that the island has residents who are passionate about handball. He noted that handball tournaments are held almost every year, and with this new court, players will find it much more convenient.

“This court has eased the burdens we faced before. We hope to see the youth of this island participating in tournaments held in other parts of the country. This court is a great opportunity and hope for the island. We hope that by utilizing this court, talented players will emerge from our island,” Siraj said.

The council president stated that the new court has brought many new hopes. He believes that the island’s players will take advantage of this opportunity to compete in tournaments held on other islands. Siraj highlighted that with the new court, arrangements for tournament practice have become easier, and he expects new promising players to emerge from the island as a result of this court. In line with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s presidential pledge, numerous sports projects are currently underway across the Maldives. While some of these projects have been completed, work on the remaining projects is progressing at a rapid pace.

The council president reiterated that the new court has brought many new hopes. He believes that the island’s players will take advantage of this opportunity to compete in tournaments held on other islands. Siraj emphasized that with the new court, arrangements for tournament practice have become easier, and he expects new promising players to emerge from the island as a result of this court. In accordance with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s presidential pledge, numerous sports projects are currently underway across the Maldives.
