
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has officially inaugurated the Bank of Maldives (BML) ATM service in Haa Dhaalu Nolhivaram. The ATM service was formally launched during the President’s ongoing visit to Haa Dhaalu Atoll. Establishing ATM services in all inhabited islands of the Maldives is one of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s pledges. In line with the President’s promise, BML has begun the process of setting up ATM services in 100 new islands this year.
During his current visit to Haa Dhaalu Atoll, the President traveled to Nolhivaram and inaugurated the ATM service there. After launching the service, he withdrew money from the ATM. Following the inauguration, the President presented a commemorative bank card to the Island Council. BML stated that the ATM in Nolhivaram will provide 24-hour cash withdrawal and deposit services for individuals and businesses, as well as bill payment and transfer services.
As part of the joint initiative between the government and BML to provide ATM services in all inhabited islands of the Maldives, ATM services have been established in all inhabited islands of 8 atolls so far. The most recent completion of ATM services was in Alif Alif Atoll. Including Alif Alif Atoll, the atolls where BML has installed ATMs are Haa Alif, Shaviyani, Dhaalu, Noonu, Meemu, Kaafu, and Baa Atolls. Under the supervision of the Ministry of Economic Development, BML aims to complete the project of installing ATMs in all inhabited islands of the Maldives within this year. The bank has stated that this project will empower the island communities financially and bring economic progress to these islands.
