BML has launched a dollar ATM service in AA. Thoddoo. The dollar ATM service in the island was inaugurated by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu had promised to open a dollar ATM in Thoddoo during his visit to the island last December when he met with the island’s residents. Eight months after that promise, the dollar ATM service has now been launched in Thoddoo. As part of his trip to North Ari Atoll, the President visited Thoddoo and inaugurated the dollar ATM service on the island. To launch the service, he withdrew money from the ATM.
During this trip, the foundation for the BML Thoddoo Branch was also laid. The foundation stone was laid by the Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Moosa Zameer, along with the CEO of BML and the President of Thoddoo Council. The government decided to open a dollar ATM in Thoddoo because it is an island where local tourism has expanded and is prioritized. The President has noted that as many tourists will continue to visit Thoddoo in the future, it is important to have arrangements for residents to withdraw dollars while on the island.
In Thoddoo, where local tourism has expanded, more than 50 guesthouses are currently operating. It is also an island frequently visited by both tourists and Maldivians for holidays. The dollar ATM opened by BML in Thoddoo is the fourth island outside of Male’ to have a dollar ATM. In addition to Thoddoo, dollar ATMs in other atolls are now available in Maafushi, Addu City, and Kulhudhuffushi City.
