MIFCO has announced that the work on the Fuvahmulah fish processing facility has started and is currently in progress. The company’s goal is to begin services at the Fuvahmulah City fish processing facility before the end of this year. MIFCO has stated that with this facility, safely packaged fish products will be made available to the residents of Fuvahmulah City before the year’s end.

In an effort to make the fishing industry and fishermen’s work more profitable and sustainable, MIFCO is expanding its operations. While working towards starting fish purchases from Fuvahmulah City, preparations are also underway to begin direct fish exports from Addu City next month. MIFCO has also stated that steps are being taken to start value-added fish processing in Addu City within this year. As part of the efforts to improve the condition of MIFCO centers and increase processing capacity, plans have been made to enhance fish purchasing conditions at the Kooddoo Fisheries Complex by repairing the harbor front roads and upgrading the local production factory.

Urgent repair and maintenance work has already begun at the Felivaru Cannery. Additionally, MIFCO informs that the fish purchasing center being established in Thinadhoo, GDh. Atoll, is scheduled to open and become operational by the end of 2026. Preparations are also underway to begin purchasing yellowfin tuna caught in the north and south regions for MIFCO within this year.
