Mammography Service Inaugurated at B. Atoll Hospital

As part of the ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of healthcare services, the mammography service has been inaugurated at B. Atoll Hospital. The service was officially launched by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. While the mammography service has been initiated at B. Atoll Hospital, it’s worth noting that the Maldives has a high incidence of cancer relative to its population. Among the various types of cancer, statistics show that breast cancer is one of the most common in the Maldives. With the introduction of mammography services in Eydhafushi, residents of that region will no longer need to rely on traveling to Male’ for this service. Additionally, this service will elevate the efforts to ensure women’s health to a new level in Eydhafushi.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu inaugurated the mammography service at B. Atoll Hospital during his ongoing trip to B. Atoll. After launching the service, the President inspected the breast cancer screening room where the mammography service will be provided.

Cancer is a disease that can be treated successfully with modern medicine if detected early. Therefore, it is the government’s aim to further strengthen the health system and establish facilities for early detection of this disease in various regions of the country. With the establishment of mammography services at B. Atoll Hospital, early screening for breast cancer can now be conducted at the hospital. The hospital has been equipped with modern facilities necessary for providing mammography services.
