Last week, 1,314 containers were cleared, with onions and eggs being the most common

Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has stated that they cleared 1,314 containers last week. Among these, the most common items were essential foodstuffs, namely onions and eggs. According to the statistics released by Maldives Ports, 1,314 containers were cleared from July 27 to August 2. This includes 500 20-foot containers and 407 40-foot containers. Looking at the statistics published by MPL, eggs were the most cleared item from the Male’ Commercial Harbor last week, with 16,988 cases. The second most cleared item was onions, with 13,096 sacks.

Essential food items cleared during the past week:

  • Carrots: 7,437 cases
  • Potatoes: 5,538 sacks
  • Tomatoes: 3,888 cases
  • Pineapples: 3,181 cases
  • Cabbage: 2,920 cases
  • Bananas: 2,634 cases

As the number of containers being cleared continues to increase, MPL is working on speeding up their operations. The company states that the time taken to clear goods has been reduced significantly compared to before. Furthermore, as part of the company’s digitalization efforts, they have now arranged for all necessary information to be available in one place for those who wish to import goods easily.
