Minister of Civil Aviation, Mohamed Ameen, has announced that efforts are underway to establish two additional air service agreements aimed at boosting the Maldives’ tourism industry and expanding the aviation sector. The Minister stated that the government’s objective is to utilize the traffic rights granted under these agreements to facilitate flights from new destinations, in addition to existing tourism markets.
The Minister expressed confidence that the results of these efforts would be visible in the near future. Recently, the Maldives has established similar agreements with Ethiopia and Australia, paving the way for the commencement of direct flights. These agreements, which determine the frequency of flights and seat capacity for international airlines, play a crucial role in the growth of the Maldivian economy and its tourism sector.
