The Member of Parliament for the Baarah constituency, Ibrahim Shujau, has asserted that during former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s administration, the country’s national debt reached unprecedented levels and a portion of the Maldivian maritime territory was surrendered through a confidential letter.
In a strong rebuttal to former President Nasheed’s criticisms of the current administration, Shujau questioned Nasheed’s integrity and sincerity toward the nation. He pointed out that although Nasheed had eventually left the MDP, labeling it a “network of thieves,” he failed to resign from his parliamentary position at that time. Shujau further noted that the allegations Nasheed is currently spreading across various islands regarding President Dr. Muizzu and the government are baseless and factually inaccurate.
