Despite the recent surge in onion prices across the local market, the State Trading Organization (STO) has provided assurances that onions will remain available at their previously established affordable rates. Currently, STO maintains its retail price at MVR 13 per kilogram. The corporation further confirmed that adequate stocks are available to meet both wholesale and retail demand without interruption. While market prices have reportedly risen above MVR 25 per kilogram, STO emphasized that it has no plans to increase its prices and remains prepared to import additional shipments as required to ensure market stability.
