Saudi Arabia has announced the discovery of 110 million tons of raw materials containing uranium and rare earth elements (REE) at the Jabal Sayid site in the Madinah region. Estimated to be the world’s fourth-largest deposit of its kind, the site is expected to yield significant quantities of both heavy and light rare earth elements, along with 31,000 tons of uranium. This discovery marks a substantial advancement in Saudi Arabia’s pursuit of developing its domestic nuclear energy capabilities. In light of this finding, a new rare earth processing plant is scheduled to be established in the Kingdom in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Defense. Following these recent discoveries, the total valuation of Saudi Arabia’s mineral resources has risen to an estimated $100 billion.
