Maldives Elevates Sustainability Reporting Standards

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Maldives (CA Maldives) has announced that the nation’s efforts to implement sustainability reporting standards have gained international recognition. This announcement was made during a one-day IFRS Forum held at Shaheed Ali School, which was attended by over 300 professionals from the financial sector.

Inaugurated by Mohamed Ahmed, CEO of the Capital Market Development Authority (CMDA), the forum highlighted the critical role of sustainability reporting in enhancing the Maldives’ economic resilience. Addressing the event, the President of CA Maldives, Mohamed Haleem Abdulla, stated that the adoption of IFRS S1 and S2, along with the upcoming implementation of IFRS 18 next year, positions the Maldives to become a regional leader in this field. Furthermore, the ceremony marked the official launch of the “AIB” campaign, an initiative aimed at registering accountants and finance professionals across the country.
