The Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Ali Ihusaan, has stated that the government’s proactive policies have led to a significant reduction in gang-related crimes and have effectively halted fatalities resulting from violent assaults. Through the establishment of a specialized Gang Crime Unit within the Police Service, criminal activities have seen a decline. The government’s primary objective is to rehabilitate youth involved in crime and reintegrate them into society by providing sustainable employment opportunities. In line with this vision, efforts are currently underway to establish rehabilitation and treatment centers across various regions of the Maldives.
