“Expecting an Exceptional Performance from the Youth Team”

Akram Abdul Ghanee, the former captain of the Maldives national team, has expressed high hopes for the Maldivian U-20 squad competing in the upcoming SAFF Championship held in the Maldives. Wishing the team success, Akram stated that keeping the championship trophy at home remains a significant aspiration. He highlighted that the current squad consists of highly talented and promising players. Furthermore, Akram expressed full confidence in coach István Urbányi, believing that under his guidance, the team will deliver a remarkably superior performance.

The tournament is scheduled to take place at the Galolhu National Stadium from the 23rd of this month to the 3rd of next month, featuring seven competing nations. The Maldives is placed in Group A alongside Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Bhutan. The hosts will kick off the tournament against Sri Lanka on Monday night. Ticket sales are set to begin tomorrow, with prices ranging between MVR 15 and MVR 50.
