The Maldives has welcomed over 1.1 million tourists so far this year, with China emerging as the leading source market. Surpassing the 200,000 mark, arrivals from China have seen a significant growth of 15.5% compared to the same period last year. In addition to China, Russia and the United Kingdom remain among the top contributors to the country’s tourism industry.
While the majority of visitors arrived via Velana International Airport, the industry faced minor fluctuations due to ongoing tensions in the Middle East. However, the sector is currently showing a strong recovery and steady growth. To accommodate the increasing number of visitors, the Maldives has expanded its capacity, with over 68,000 beds currently available for tourist services.
