Barcelona has renewed the contract of Lamine Yamal upon his 18th birthday and given him the number 10 jersey. Yamal, who turned 18 last Sunday, was given Barcelona’s number 10 jersey three days later. This is the same jersey number used by Lionel Messi, who has won the World Player of the Year title seven times. Under the agreement Yamal made with Barcelona until the end of 2031, he will receive an annual salary of 15 million euros.

Lamine Yamal, who gained worldwide attention with his impressive performance for Barcelona at the age of 17 last season, has played a total of 106 matches for Barcelona by the time he turned 18. This is not a common number of matches played by a player at this age in top-level European football. By the time he turned 18, Lamine Yamal had won the La Liga championship, the Copa del Rey, and the European Championship with UEFA Spain. The number 10 jersey given to Lamine Yamal by Barcelona has been worn by some of the most famous players in the club’s history. These include Lionel Messi, Diego Maradona, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, Romário, Riquelme, and Pep Guardiola.

Lamine Yamal, named after Lamin and Yamal who helped his parents when they couldn’t pay their rent, has an agreement with Barcelona that includes a release clause of 1 billion euros if another club wants to buy him during the contract period. This is the highest amount that can be set as a transfer fee for a player.
