The final stage of re-establishing the Football Association of Maldives (FAM) is currently underway, according to Commissioner of Sports Mohamed Thalaal. Thalaal made this statement while speaking at the opening ceremony of the Mao Swam Juniors Under-18 Fiesta, organized by Soka Veterans. At the ceremony held at the National Football Stadium, the Commissioner of Sports said that they are now working on reviving football.

“We are working to revive and uplift football as Dr. Mohamed Muizzu desires. God willing, we will succeed in this endeavor,” said the Commissioner of Sports. He also mentioned that the work being done by the FAM Normalization Committee is paving the way for this goal. Thalaal expressed his deep gratitude for the work being carried out by the FAM Normalization Committee. He also thanked Soccer Veterans of Maldives for their efforts in reviving football.

Thalaal stated that the tournaments organized by Soccer Veterans are the first step towards producing Maldivian football players. While Soccer Veterans highlighted that tonight’s tournament is being held with the aim of generating and fostering interest in football, Thalaal affirmed that this is indeed an important initiative. “It’s truly an important step to cultivate interest in football from a young age; that’s how we can produce excellent players,” Thalaal said. As preparations are underway to form the new executive committee of FAM, the organization’s congress is scheduled to be held on the 27th of this month.
