Bangladesh defeats Maldives to win Bronze Medal

Bangladesh has won the bronze medal in the FIBA Under-16 Asia Cup Qualifiers by defeating the Maldives men’s team. Bangladesh won the match with a 33-point difference.

Bangladesh displayed an excellent performance in the match held at the indoor court of the Youth Center. This was the second encounter between these two teams in the qualifying round within the past 24 hours.

At the beginning of the first quarter, Maldives played very well and even took the lead for a short while. However, they couldn’t maintain this lead for long.

Due to Bangladesh’s strong performance, Maldives found it difficult to score points. Bangladesh ended the first quarter leading 20-11.
In the second quarter, Bangladesh maintained their lead while signs of fatigue were noticeable among the Maldivian players.

Throughout the entire match, Bangladesh showed a strong defensive game. As a result, Maldivian players faced difficulties in scoring points throughout the match. Bangladesh won this quarter 38-27.

As they entered the second half, Bangladesh made changes to their defensive formation and strengthened their attacks. Consequently, Bangladesh widened their lead in this quarter. Bangladesh won this quarter 44-37.

In the final quarter, as Bangladesh began to score points consistently, their confidence in winning the match grew, and the team appeared more relaxed. Bangladesh led this quarter and won the match with a final score of 75-42.

In this match, Iyal Abdul Nashid scored the most points for Maldives, grabbing 4 rebounds, making 2 assists, and scoring 15 points. For Bangladesh, MD Afridi, who was named the player of the match, scored the most points. He made 11 rebounds, 4 assists, and scored 24 points.

Although Maldives played well in all the qualifying matches of the tournament, they didn’t manage to win any of them.
