Inter Miami forward Luis Suarez of Uruguay says that the Club World Cup football tournament held in America should be made more beneficial for young players than for veteran players. Along with him, veteran players are prominent in Miami, America. These include the world’s best player, 38-year-old Argentine captain Lionel Messi, and former Barcelona players Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba. The 38-year-old Suarez said that veteran players like him don’t have much to achieve from this tournament.
“This is a tournament where young players should shine. It’s an opportunity for them to gain more experience and advance. For veteran players like us, there’s not much to gain from this tournament. We achieved successes in this tournament in our youth. This is not our day,” Suarez said. He said that European teams have the best chance of winning the tournament. However, since many players are playing this tournament without rest after a long season, that could be an advantage for teams like Miami.
“It would be a success for us if we reach the second round of this tournament. European teams are coming without rest after a long season. So we should always be ready to win. We should remember that this is an advantage we can take,” Suarez said. In the first match of the tournament, which is being held for the first time with 32 teams participating, Inter Miami will face Al Ahly from Egypt.
