Israel has threatened to violate the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon’s Hezbollah and continue attacks on Lebanon. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said that if Hezbollah refuses to lay down arms, they will continue attacks targeting Lebanese civilians, including women and children. Despite a ceasefire agreement reached in November 2024, Israeli forces have been consistently violating it, bombing civilian areas, homes, and killing women, children, and the elderly.
Israel claims that Hezbollah laying down arms is a key condition of the agreement. However, analysts believe Hezbollah has been fulfilling its part of the agreement. Hezbollah says it has ceased military activities near the Israel-Lebanon border and armed militants are not active. Even during the Muslim Eid al-Adha holiday, Israeli forces targeted Beirut and southern Lebanon, claiming to hit drone production facilities. Analysts say these attacks were aimed at civilian buildings, with recent strikes damaging about 80 apartments in nine buildings.
Lebanon’s state media, National News Agency, reported that Israeli military aircraft have been continuously targeting civilian homes in Beirut. Hezbollah has denied Israeli claims about drone production in these buildings, stating no military activities were conducted there. Lebanese President Youssef Aoun has strongly condemned the recent Israeli attacks ordered by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. His government, Arab countries, and international human rights organizations say Israeli forces violate the agreement daily on Netanyahu’s orders.
The exchange of attacks between Israeli forces and Hezbollah began on October 7, 2023, when Israeli forces started a genocide against Gaza’s Palestinians. Hezbollah’s aim was to support Palestinian resistance groups and civilians, and to pressure Israel to stop the massacre.
In attacks on Lebanon, Israeli forces have killed about 4,000 people and injured thousands more, mostly innocent women, children, and the elderly. Since the ceasefire in November 2024, Israeli forces have killed an additional 190 people and injured over 500 in ruthless attacks, according to the Lebanese government.
