Brazilian football legend Rivaldo has stated that the decision not to include forward Neymar Santos in the national team is a very good decision by the newly appointed experienced coach Carlo Ancelotti. One of the best forwards who helped Brazil win the 2002 World Cup said that if Neymar was selected for the national team, everyone would criticize Ancelotti. “It’s a very good decision by Ancelotti. Neymar is not fit at the moment. He is injured. He is slowly working to recover from that injury. I don’t think it’s something a coach should do to select him for the national team at this time,” Rivaldo said.

Rivaldo, who also played for Barcelona and AC Milan, said that Brazil currently needs to create a strong national team. Therefore, selecting players based on name is not a good approach. And Neymar should only join the national team when he is fully fit and playing well. One of the most notable players Ancelotti gave a chance to in the Brazil team is midfielder Casemiro. He got the opportunity to wear the national jersey after nearly two years. However, Rivaldo said this is a good change. “He is a player Ancelotti knows very well. He played well under Ancelotti’s coaching at Real Madrid. And he is currently playing well at his club Manchester United. Such experienced players should be in the team,” Rivaldo said.

He said that Ancelotti is experienced, so he should be given time to work with the Brazil team without criticism.
