In the ongoing genocide of the people of Gaza by the Israeli army, 23 people have been killed in airstrikes on three areas of Gaza. The Gaza Health Ministry said that among those killed in Israeli terrorist army airstrikes on residential areas in Khan Younis in southern Gaza, Jabalia in the north, and Nuseirat, were a journalist and a senior official of a rescue organization.
The Health Ministry said that journalist Hassan Majdi Abu Warda was killed along with many members of his family in an airstrike on his home in Jabalia. In airstrikes on Nuseirat, Ashraf Abu Nar, a senior official of the civil emergency services in the area, and his wife were killed, it said. The media office of Hamas, which governs Gaza, said that with the martyrdom of Abu Warda, the number of journalists killed since the Israeli terrorist army began its aggression on Gaza on October 7, 2023, has risen to 220. Hamas said that through continuous land and air attacks, Israel has now taken control of 77 percent of Gaza’s territory.
Although the exchange of attacks was suspended under a ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel that came into effect on January 19, the Israeli army violated the agreement and resumed attacks on Gaza on March 18. A few days before violating the agreement, Israel had tightened the blockade on Gaza, obstructing the entry of food and aid supplies into the city. More than two months have passed since then, and Gaza’s 2.3 million residents continue to face extreme hunger and disease. However, Israel has now allowed a small amount of food and aid supplies to enter Gaza.
In retaliation for Hamas’ attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, which was launched in response to Israeli aggressions, the Israeli army began a genocide of the people of Gaza on the same day. Under this genocide, the Israeli army has forced a large percentage of Gaza’s population to leave their homes. The number of people killed in this aggression has risen to 53,600, while more than 120,000 have been injured. Additionally, civilian homes and infrastructure in Gaza have been completely destroyed and leveled to the ground.
