Flights to Muli Airport have begun, flights will be every Saturday

Flights to Muli Airport have commenced. Muli Airport was officially opened on May 20th by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu at a special ceremony held in Muli for this purpose. From the 15th of this month, Regional Airports opened opportunities for operators to schedule flights to Muli Airport. Regional Airports stated that so far, only Maldivian has expressed interest in the opportunity to operate flights to Muli Airport.

Starting yesterday, the national airline Maldivian has begun scheduled flights to Muli Airport. For the initial service, Maldivian has scheduled flights to Muli every Saturday of the week. Accordingly, the first commercial flight departed from Male’ at 15:30 yesterday. And the flight from Muli to Male’ was at 16:45. Based on the demand for flights, scheduled flights will be increased in the future. Regional Airports has also opened opportunities for other airlines that wish to operate flights.

Muli Airport is an airport dedicated to domestic flights. While 36 hectares of land have been reclaimed from the island for the Muli Airport project, a 1500-meter runway has been developed. This project to develop the airport with the most modern facilities was carried out by the government at a cost of over 300 million rufiyaa. About 40 employees will work at Muli Airport. The test flight for Muli Airport was held on April 25th. While there are 8 inhabited islands in Mulaku Atoll, the population of the atoll is close to 8000.
