A report from the MMA has shown that the occupancy rate in tourism has increased in the first quarter of this year. According to the MMA’s Quarterly Business Survey Report, tourism has seen growth in this quarter. The Business Survey Report for the first quarter of this year, published by the Maldives Monetary Authority, indicates that based on information collected from companies operating in the tourism industry, the tourism sector has grown in the first quarter.
According to this report, compared to the last quarter of the previous year, the occupancy rate in the tourism industry has increased by 8% in the first quarter of this year.
The number of workers in the tourism industry has also increased by 8% in the first quarter. The Quarterly Business Survey Report shows that the financial condition of companies operating in the tourism industry has also improved in the first quarter. As such, compared to the last quarter of the previous year, companies’ financial conditions have seen a 3% improvement in the first quarter of this year. Overall, the Maldivian tourism industry has seen significant growth so far this year. The number of tourists visiting the Maldives has also increased.
As of the 20th of this month, 923,390 tourists have visited the Maldives. During the same period last year, 854,928 tourists had visited the Maldives. This represents an 8% increase
