Fish exports from Maldives increased by 35.1% in the first 2 months

The volume of fish exports from the Maldives has increased in the first two months of this year. According to the Monthly Statistics Report of the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA), the volume of fish exports from the Maldives has increased compared to the first two months of last year. The Maldives mainly exports fish products. According to the MMA report, the amount of fish exported from the Maldives in the first two months of this year has increased by 35.1% compared to the first two months of last year.

In the first two months of this year, 14,222 metric tons of fish were exported from the Maldives. The MMA report shows that 10,526 metric tons of fish were exported during this period last year. Exports of all major types of fish have increased this year. Accordingly, 12,971 metric tons of frozen skipjack tuna have been exported. During this period last year, this figure stood at 8,903 metric tons. This is a 45% increase.

In the first two months of this year, 10,402 metric tons of skipjack tuna have been exported. During this period last year, 6,466 metric tons of fish were exported. 2,468 metric tons of yellowfin tuna have been exported. During this period last year, 2,420 metric tons of fish were exported. Looking at other varieties, 100 metric tons of fish have been exported this year. Statistics show that 16 metric tons of this variety were exported last year.

Although all types of fish exported from the Maldives have increased, the amount of canned fish exported has decreased. In the first two months of this year, 750 metric tons of fish were exported from the Maldives. However, during this period last year, this figure was at 1,306 metric tons. Therefore, this is a 42% decrease. The Maldives fisheries have improved significantly in recent days. And the amount of fish unloaded by fishing boats to MIFCO has also increased. And now, payments are being deposited to boat owners within 48 hours.
