President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that everyone in the Hajj Corporation’s queue designated for this year’s Hajj will be able to perform the pilgrimage. He revealed this in a post He revealed this in a post on social media. President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said that all those in the corporation’s queue for 2025 will be able to go for Hajj this year. The President also noted that this is the first time in years that everyone in the queue for a particular year will be able to perform Hajj in that same year.

While the President has announced that all those in the Hajj Corporation’s queue for this year will be able to perform the sacred pilgrimage, he has decided to change the policy for sending people for Hajj from the Maldives to prioritize those who have not performed Hajj before. The President made this decision on January 5th. The revised policy for sending people for Hajj from the Maldives was published on the 18th of this month in accordance with the President’s decision.

Under the policy change aimed at reducing the Hajj queue, it has been decided to give priority to those who wish to perform Hajj for the first time. The Hajj Corporation must also allocate a certain percentage each year for those over 65 who have not performed Hajj before. For those 75 and above who have not performed Hajj, the opportunity to assign a helper based on their health condition will be given to someone who has not performed Hajj before if a family member is included in the Maldives Hajj Corporation’s list. The opportunity to assign someone who has performed Hajj before as a helper will only be given if there is no family member who has not performed Hajj in the corporation’s list and if no one who has not performed Hajj is available to them.

The policy also states that an additional opportunity will be given to someone who has performed Hajj before only after 5 Hijri years have passed since their last Hajj. According to information previously provided by the Hajj Corporation, there are currently 9,115 people in the queue to perform Hajj through the corporation. This includes 7,543 people under 65 years, 1,461 people between 65 and 75 years, and 111 people over 75 years.

Among those currently in the queue, 8,623 people have applied to go for Hajj for the first time. This includes 7,150 people under 65 years, 1,370 people between 65 and 75 years, and 103 people over 75 years.
