“Earth Hour” observed in the Maldives this year

The globally observed “Earth Hour” was also marked in the Maldives. To To commemorate this event, some places in the Maldives were switched off for 1 hour. “Earth Hour” is an initiative by the World Wildlife Fund to raise awareness about global warming and environmental changes. Participants in this event turn off lights in households and buildings for 1 hour every year. This year, the event was held from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM.

However, in the Maldives, the event took place from 9:45 PM to 10:45 PM. Some government offices, institutions, and companies participated by turning off their lights during Earth Hour.

“Earth Hour” is an important international platform used to increase environmental awareness. The main objective of this event is to demonstrate solidarity in working against climate change and protecting our natural heritage. As the Maldives is one of the countries most affected by climate change, it is important to work towards protecting the natural environment and its inhabitants for future generations.

Earth Hour was first observed in 2007 in Sydney, Australia. It has now become an international campaign observed worldwide. Some of the world’s famous landmarks are also switched off to mark “Earth Hour.”
