Grain zakat collection moved to Iskandhar School

The location for collecting Fitrah zakat in grains in Male’ City has been changed to Iskandhar School. Zakat House said that, as in previous years, the opportunity to pay Fitrah zakat in grains will be open from Saturday, the 22nd of this month, until Thursday, the 27th, for those who wish to do so.

Previously, grain zakat collection was set to take place at Salahuddin Hall in Majeediyya School, but it has now been moved to Iskandhar School. Collection will be carried out from 13:00 to 16:00. The amount of Fitrah zakat to be paid is 2.4 kilograms per person of the type of grain commonly used for food throughout the year.

Types of grains accepted for Fitrah zakat:
– Regular rice
– Thai rice
– Basmati rice
– Red rice
– Wheat flour
– Atta flour

For the atolls, Zakat House has authorized the collection of grain zakat by island council offices and distribution to those registered as poor and needy, according to procedures set by each island.
