President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that those in society who need special care and love will be served by joining hands. The President said this in a post shared in connection with World Down Syndrome Day, which is being observed today. He also said that the government and the people will work hand in hand to provide comfort to every child and family in society who needs special care and love.

This year’s theme for World Down Syndrome Day is “Im Our Support System”. As the world marks International Down Syndrome Day, since March 21, 2 since March 21, 2012, this day has been observed annually to raise awareness about the rights of children with Down syndrome, their feelings, and to provide information about them.

Research shows that 1 in every 800 children born in the world has Down syndrome. And for children born to mothers over 35 years of age, this number is likely to increase significantly.
