Hussein Fahmy, Managing Director of STELCO, has assured that the company will not do anything with the intention of misleading the public. In a post on X, Fahmy said that the company has a 75-year record of national service. He also gave full assurance that the company will not do anything with the intention of misleading the public.

“The issue of sending two bills close together is something we have talked about very openly through the media before. It was a decision made for the benefit of customers. And it’s not a bill for a single usage. The dates the readings were taken will be visible on the bills. This bill that has been sent is to clear the backlog of the 20 or 25-day delay in bill delivery after taking readings in STELCO’s billing cycle. And to alleviate potential financial difficulties for customers, a 30-day grace period has been given to pay this bill without incurring fines,” Fahmy said.

Fahmy said that among the purposes of sending this bill is to prepare a single bill for the entire Ramadan month’s usage from the first day of Ramadan until the end of Ramadan, and to include the discount decided by the government in that bill. He also said that if the bill is sent with the backlog, the discount would only apply to one part of the Ramadan usage. Therefore, one of the purposes is to provide customers with the full benefit of that discount.

“In addition, with the clearing of this backlog, from April onwards, readings will be taken in the last week of each month, and the bill will be delivered the next day, allowing customers to compare the reading with their meter, increasing customer trust in STELCO,” he said.
