President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that discounts will be given on electricity and water bills during the month of Ramadan. The President made this announcement on December 8th, stating that discounts will be provided on water and electricity bills for the upcoming Ramadan, similar to the previous year. While addressing the people of AA. Mathiveri during his visit, President Dr. Muizzu said that additional assistance will be provided to the public during the upcoming Ramadan month.
One of the measures highlighted by the President was the discount on electricity and water bills. He noted that this was a relief provided to the public last year as well, and assured that the same discount will be given for the upcoming Ramadan month. The President stated, “As mentioned in the previous meeting, we will provide discounts on electricity and water bills this Ramadan month, just as we did in the previous Ramadan, and this will proceed as planned.”
“So how can one lie and deceive? When someone lies, it’s the listener’s responsibility to recognize it as a lie. Accepting everything someone says without verification is not permissible even from a religious perspective,” the President said tonight, addressing the false narratives being spread about his previous Ramadan-related decisions. President Dr. Muizzu had earlier announced that each household will receive a free case of canned fish for the upcoming Ramadan month, and this initiative is currently underway.
In addition to this gift, the government is taking special measures to prevent price hikes of food items during Ramadan. The current administration has also declared the last 10 days of Ramadan as government holidays.
