The Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, has stated that 6,373 people have gone for Umrah in December this year. The Minister said that 6,373 people have gone to Makkah under the care of various companies to perform Umrah this year, and that all of them are in good condition.
This year, the number of people going for Umrah from the Maldives has increased, also putting pressure on Velana Airport. Minister Dr. Shaheem is closely monitoring all matters related to taking people for Umrah, the difficulties faced by those individuals while performing worship in Makkah, and all such related issues.
