President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that it has been decided not to rent a place for the three ministries affected by last Thursday’s fire incident until a permanent solution is found.
The fire incident at the Housing Ministry and Construction Ministry buildings on Ameenee Magu, opposite the Voice of Maldives, has rendered both buildings unusable. During his visit to Dharubaaruge today, where the ministries are now operating, the President spoke with the staff and noted that the fire incident resulted in an immeasurable loss. He acknowledged the loss of personal belongings of staff members and stated that it would be difficult to imagine the hardships they face. However, he commended the positive attitude, patience, and cooperation of the staff in restarting operations.
In this meeting, the President said that efforts are being made to create a normal office environment in collaboration with government institutions. He mentioned ongoing work to increase the number of toilets, provide cafeteria services, and acquire necessary electronics and computer systems.
The President revealed that it has been decided not to rent a place for the three ministries affected by the fire incident until a permanent solution is found. Instead, he said they are considering providing services from a government facility until a permanent solution is reached.
After this visit, the President met with the task force formed to relocate the three ministries to Dharubaaruge temporarily and some company executives to get the latest updates on the work. Following his visit to Dharubaaruge, the President also visited Galolhu School to check on the preparations being made to resume the suspended services of the City Council.
