
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has announced that instructions have been issued to expedite the formation of a Joint Commission before the end of this year, aimed at further strengthening the bilateral relations between Malaysia and the Maldives.
Speaking at the official banquet hosted in honor of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, the Prime Minister commended President Muizzu’s leadership and praised the Maldives for its courage in advocating against injustice. He further emphasized that major global nations must be held accountable for the environmental challenges and damages faced by small island nations due to climate change.
Additionally, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim confirmed that the Malaysian central bank has been directed to accelerate the process of establishing a USD 100 million currency swap arrangement between the two countries. He also assured that the Malaysian government would work closely with the Maldivian administration to address and resolve challenges faced by Maldivians in the sectors of education and healthcare.
