At the invitation of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim, was accorded a grand official welcome at Republic Square this morning as he commenced his two-day state visit to the Maldives. The welcoming ceremony was marked by a 21-gun salute and traditional cultural performances.
This visit marks the Prime Minister’s inaugural official trip to the Maldives since assuming office. During his stay, the two nations will engage in high-level bilateral discussions, and several Memoranda of Understanding are expected to be signed across key sectors. Additionally, senior government officials are scheduled to meet with the Prime Minister. A primary focus of this visit is to further consolidate and enhance the long-standing 58-year diplomatic relationship between the Maldives and Malaysia.
