The prevailing adverse weather conditions across the Maldives have resulted in significant flooding, affecting over 70 households in Feydhoo and two residences in Maradhoo, Addu City. Due to the extent of the damage, eight individuals from a severely impacted house in Feydhoo have been relocated to temporary shelter. Furthermore, heavy rainfall has caused widespread flooding in Fuvahmulah City, as well as several islands in the southern and central atolls. In response, the Maldives National Defence Force, Maldives Police Service, local councils, and members of the community are collaborating on flood mitigation efforts, including water drainage operations and the deployment of sandbags. As inclement weather is forecasted to persist over the next 24 hours, authorities have urged the public to exercise caution during maritime travel and to take necessary precautions against potential flood-related damages.
