Due to a decline in fish catch and a subsequent rise in demand within the Maldives, MIFCO has increased its purchase price for skipjack tuna by MVR 1, setting the new rate at MVR 21 per kilogram. Reflecting international market trends and current demand, this revised pricing is now effective across all MIFCO centers and collection vessels. Furthermore, the government is actively working to enhance the profitability of the fisheries sector by expanding cold storage capacity and diversifying value-added fish products.
