President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the government is prioritizing the training of Maldivians in the fields of engineering and science to ensure that local talent replaces foreign labor in the nation’s developmental projects. To foster interest among the youth, it has been decided that August 30th—marking the anniversary of the Sinamalé Bridge opening—will be celebrated annually as Engineers’ Day. Furthermore, to recognize the invaluable contributions of engineers and to encourage professional growth within the sector, a special award across 10 categories will be introduced starting this year.
