The Chief Spokesperson at the President’s Office, Mohamed Hussain Shareef (Mundhu), has refuted social media reports claiming that an official desk used by five former presidents was sold at auction. Shareef clarified that the desk auctioned by the President’s Office was never used by any president, but was disposed of in accordance with established procedures as it was severely damaged by termites. He further noted that the desk in the circulating photos appeared to have been modified to misrepresent it as a historical presidential desk. Shareef urged the public to verify the accuracy of information with relevant authorities before sharing such claims.
