President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has ratified the bill passed by the People’s Majlis to increase the number of board members of the Utility Regulatory Authority (URA) from five to seven, aimed at strengthening the authority’s administrative governance. Under this new amendment, the board will include a Chief Executive appointed by the President and a legal expert. The amendment further mandates that the additional members must be appointed to the board within 30 days. The legislation has now come into effect following its publication in the Government Gazette.
