During a five-day official visit to Russia by a high-level Maldivian tourism delegation, both nations have reached a mutual understanding regarding the expansion of flight operations from Russia to the Maldives. As part of this mission, Minister Mohamed Ameen met with Russia’s Deputy Minister of Transport to discuss enhancing aerial connectivity. Furthermore, the delegation is scheduled to engage with key tourism industry stakeholders in Moscow and St. Petersburg to strengthen bilateral cooperation. The primary objectives of these efforts are to fortify aviation links between the two countries, amplify Maldives’ brand presence within the Russian market, and strategically prepare for the upcoming peak tourism seasons as well as the ‘Visit Maldives Year 2027’ initiative.
