
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has declared that the relocation of Malé Commercial Harbour to Thilafushi is the current administration’s most significant and highest-priority undertaking. Speaking on the Presidential Office’s podcast, The Pulse, President Muizzu stated that this project stands as the single greatest driver of economic advancement for the Maldives.
The President noted that the government is targeting the official opening of Thilafushi Port on November 11th of next year. Upon its completion, authorities affirm that the chronic congestion and capacity constraints plaguing the existing harbour will be permanently resolved.
The Thilafushi Port is being developed as a modern, multipurpose facility that meets international standards, featuring a comprehensive 24-hour logistics system, a dedicated container terminal, cold storage facilities, and bonded warehouses.
