President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that a robust framework will be submitted to the People’s Majlis during its third session of the year to ensure that no laws contrary to the tenets of Islam can be enacted in the Maldives. Speaking at the official function marking the National Day, the President emphasized that Islam is the core pillar of the Maldivian nation, noting that throughout history, the country’s independence has been compromised whenever policies alienated from religious values were implemented.

In this regard, the President provided his assurance that fundamental and systemic reforms would be introduced to guarantee that all laws and regulations formulated in the Maldives remain strictly within the boundaries of Islam. Furthermore, President Muizzu urged the citizens to remain committed to upholding moral standards and to strive towards building a civilized society rooted in mutual respect.
